Powerlines

How does the architecture of everyday life echo theatrical space? Powerlines transposes dancey-dance choreography performed for a camera with three spaces in the built environment of Southern California, culminating in a screening of all three videos/spaces simultaneously. Powerlines disturbs the dichotomy between theater and site that poses site as solution to theater, revealing the sites to produce the same problems as seeing dance in the theater. Created in collaboration with dancers Samuel Briseño-Jimenez, Angelica Bursey, William Feldon, Mykhail Lazo, Kayla Williams, and Stephanie Retana; camerawork by Anaya Henry and Sam Swearingen.
